of Adam's Peak - Sri Paadha, S - Sivanoli Paadha Malai, T - from the Market, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

Photo taken with my Nikon Coolpix l820 with a 30 zoom.
Revered for thousands of years as a sacred mountain, it is mentioned in ancient writings as a place of pilgrimage. The Arabs named it Adam's peak and claimed Adam, God's first human creation did penance for his sin, by standing on one foot on the top of this peak. The Buddhists claimed the top of the peak as having a Foot-print of Lord Buddha. The devotees of Lord Shiva claimed that the Foot-print of Lord Shiva emitted a bright light from the top of this peak. It is a place of pilgrimage for people in their thousands annually.
