Dried, polished carcas of a 'strangler creeper', Karawanella, Sri Lanka.


A 'strangler creeper' is a vine found in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. It will grow round the trunk of a tall tree like a Palmyra and literally squeeze the tree to death over years. An artist has painstakingly dissected it out and polished it for display as an 'Objet d art'.

Partially restored, 'Sun-roof' Morris Minor, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.


An old work-horse of the 1950s in Sri Lanka. This was extensively used by the British tea planters of Ceylon. Quite a few are still on the roads of Sri Lanka.
