An old Diesel Engine, Naiwala, past Veyangoda, Sri Lanka.

The engine on its concrete mount.

A compressor and exhaust outlet.
A window to see the flow of diesel fuel

An old Diesel engine kept as an exhibit at a hotel in Naiwala. I remember going on a visit to a power-station at Point-Pedro in the 1950s with our science class. They had two 'Ruston-Hornsby Siamese twin' diesel engines installed. These huge diesels had twin horizontal cylinders hence the name 'Siamese twin'. They provided the power to generate electricity for the Point-Pedro Urban Council area. What beauties they were and how powerful they were when up and running.
