A 'Whip-cracker' in action in a 'Katina Perahera', Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

At the end of the 'Vas' period (rainy season), Buddhist monks come out of their retreat. A robe is stitched by the 'Dayakayas' (devotees), taken in a "perahara' (procession) and is ceremonially handed over to the Head Priest. These are pictures from the 'Perahera'.
