June is the time for a variety of fruits reaching the market in Sri Lanka. There are Rambuttans, Durians, Mangoosteens in addition to the pineapples and mangoes.

'Olu' S, 'Thaamarai T, Lotus flowers for the plucking

These flowers are plucked by the villagers and sold at the nearby 'Nawagamuwa Paththini Dewale'. These are used by the worshipers to do 'pooja' at this temple. The flowers fetch around Rs5/-each.

Most of the schools in Sri Lanka have a Western and Oriental music band. The Oriental Band with its bright colors and lilting melodies are always a big attraction.
