Hatton to Thalawakelle, Sri Lanka.

A tourist hotel among the tea-bushes overlooking Devon water-falls. The large upright brass object in front of the hotel is a huge replica of a water-boiler ( like a Russian Samonar) used in the tea kiosks of Ceylon of the 1950s.

Tea plantation.

Devon waterfalls.

Another hotel overlooking the Devon water-falls.
What lush greenery, what glorious hills with the fog of an early dawn, this indeed is Paradise.

Rest House, Kithulgala, Sri Lanka.

Flowers floating in a bowl of water greeting the guests.

Dr. P.R. Anthonis's Father-in-law's house adjoining the Rest House.

The Rest House at Kithulgala on the road to Nuwara Eliya has a long history. It had its days of glory when David Lean chose this as a base during the filming of the movie 'The Bridge over the River Kwai'. They built a bridge over the river close by and ran a steam locomotive with carriages, over the bridge. The train was blown up over the bridge using explosive charges. The whole scene was covered by more than six movie cameras. The production was a box office draw.
