First World War Memorial, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.


Erected in memory of Britishers who left Ceylon to fight in the First World 1914 - 1918 and died, this memorial was in the centre of the then town of Avissawella. It was shifted in the late 1950s to the premises of the Church of St.Barnabas (Anglican), Avissawella and can be still be seen there.

 I took this sequence of photos from the Manikkawaththe Pansala, Avissawella around 6am. There was a morning mist at that time.Camera used was a Nikon D90 with a 18-105mm Nikon Lens.
