Rain-heavy clouds, lone wild buffalo, Udawalawe National Park, Sri Lanka.

According to jungle lore, the wild buffalo is the most dangerous animal to meet in the wild. A friend of mine 'Thiru' had  gone into the jungles in the 1950s with a tracker. It was on a moonless night. They were trekking along a muddy jungle path, using an occasional flash from a torch. One such fllash revealed the red 'Bulls-eyes' reflected from a herd of buffaloes surrounding them. The tracker tapped Thiru on the shoulder and said softly 'freeze'. Both waited still for nearly half an hour till the herd moved away. Thiru told me that this was the scariest half hour in his life. A charging wild buffalo can trample to death a human encountering it.
